During ancient times demons and gods allied together to mine the elixir from ocean. During mining lots of poison too appeared. Those poison were about to engulf the whole universe.

All demons and gods prayed Lord Shiva for help. Lord Shiva drank all the poison and kept it in his neck. He threw his trident in rage due to the poison and thus originated the water from the rocks where trident hit.
