Overview:

We drive from Kathmandu to kakani early morning 7am and it will takes about 1 and half hours.. Here are some hotels and guest houses where we can have breakfast and drinks. Follow the way to the east and fifty meters further, to the left there is the Thai Airways memorial in memory of the plane which crashed close from Gosainkunda in July 1992. You can pay a visit to this memorial park. There are also mounds from where the view over mountains is fantastic. Enjoy your time here and click hundred photos of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang and Gaurishanker!!
Once you have enough with photos, follow the way going down on the right, it will lead you to the Scout training center (1930m) within 15 minutes. Here you can buy the Shivapuri National Park permit compulsory to continue the hike. It will cost 1000Nrs to foreigners and 57Nrs for Nepali. Don’t lose it because you will have to show it while entering the park and also while exiting Shivapuri.
From here, the trail becomes narrow and starts to climb in the jungle. After 10-15 minutes you reach the army check post (2030m) where Shivapuri National Park starts. You can also buy permits here and register. Crossing the check post, climb little bit and quickly you reach a pitch with two directions, both leading to Gurje Bhanjyang. The path to the left follows the north side of the park, it is 7,5kms and is called “mountain view trail”. The path to the right follows the south side of the park, is 11kms long and it is called “Kathmandu view trail”.
We made it by the north side hoping to click more photos of the mountains as the day was very clear also a less travel duration. After one hour walking towards to surya chaur we will have a organic lunch in hotel with the mismerizing view..But the trail is very nice, clean and quiet in a deep jungle. After taking a lunch we walk around 15 to 20 mins and reach to the place called Gurje Bhanjyang(1800m) where there is a Army checkpost. From here we will be continuing hiking towards Dadagau,Naryanthan here we stop around 20 mins for being refreshed enjoying the valley view by taking some cold drinks, coffee, icecreams or maybe shakes.
Then we descend around  45 mins to 1 hour and reach to our ending point of our one day hike.

Finally, we take a private vehicle and go to the hotel and take rest.

I want to go on a trek. What is the best time and place for it?

Everything you want to do is time and cost specific. Besides, your experience in trekking will also matter. There is wide range of options in Nepal if you want to explore. If you arrive in proper season, that is, between September to November (Autumn Season) and March to May (Spring Season), you might just experience something that you will be able to cherish for the lifetime. The shortest of trek can be Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, Langtang Helambu Trek or the Annapurna Circuit. The Everest trek and the full Annapurna sanctuary Trek can be ideal if you have a little more time. Finally, if you are looking for something that’s longer and more challenging, you’re looking at Kanchanjunga or Makalu area Trek.

What are the best trekking routes?

Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Basecamp, Everest Basecamp, Dhaulagiri Circuit, Manaslu Circuit and Kanchanjunga are the most popular trekking routes in Nepal.

Should I trek with an agency or should I trek alone?

Trekking alone can be a good experience if you are familiar with the terrain and have quite a few experiences in the area. Nobody can drag you down, and you can move at your own pace savoring the pleasant sceneries around to you. However, if it is your first experience or so, you might want to travel in group or with an agency. Should situations like medical emergencies, isolation due to disasters, etc. occur, having a group can be a matter of relief. If you have no group and you’re all by yourselves, you can hire a porter or a guide.

Is communication to our home country possible while on a trek or climb?

Nepal’s communication facilities are getting day by day, and most portions of trekking routes have mobile phone coverage. In case of a climb, VHF or satellite phones are available at the base camp. In both cases, weather can play an important role in communication.
