Overview:

“Makalu Base Camp Trekking – Captivating Off the Beaten Trail”

Makalu Base Camp Trekking is perfect example of tranquil walking holiday. Nepal is home of unlimited snowcapped mountains. Walking to foothills of such mountains is always captivating. It helps you to create the untold stories worthy to be shared for generations to come. This journey is one of a kind. Leaving your footprints at the foothill of world’s fifth tallest mountain Mt. Makalu is not an ordinary achievement.

Journey begins with the flight of about fifty minutes from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar. There are a plethora of villages to reach and high altitude passes to pass. Even if the Mt. Makalu is just about 19 kilometers from Mt. Everest we take the different trail.

Highlights

  • Great chance to reach the base camp of the world’s fifth tallest mountain

  • Multiethnic people (Rai, Magar, Brahmins, Chhetris, Sherpa & Tibetans)

  • Diversified Vegetations

  • Varied Landscape

  • High altitude Passes (Shipton La, Kongma La and Kek La Pass

  • Beautiful view of four 8 thousand meter tall mountains (Everest, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga & Makalu)

  • Over 2 dozen of mountain vistas

  • Rivers, Waterfalls and Lakes

  • Grassy Meadows, Glacier and Moraines

Most interesting thing about Makalu Base Camp Trekking in Nepal is its untainted beauty. Everest, Annapurna, Langtang and Manaslu region of Nepal trekking nowadays is part of mainstream walking holiday destination. However, Makalu region is still considered as the off the beaten path. It allows trekkers to be closer to nature and experience the serene tranquility.

Everest Buddha Treks specializes in high altitude trekking as well. Lots of our trekking crew members are highly experienced and have been to various off the beaten trails. During off season we always send our guides and travel planners for the identification of new trails. Therefore, in less trekked trail like Makalu Base Camp Trekking route also our management is impeccable.

However, if it is your first experience or so, you might want to travel in group or with an agency. Nepal’s communication facilities are getting day by day, and most portions of trekking routes have mobile phone coverage. In case of a climb, VHF or satellite phones are available at the base camp. In both cases, weather can play an important role in communication.
